Presse release from AC International Child Support and DanAdopt
Copenhagen, October 30th 2014
Fusion between the two Adoption Organizations in Denmark: DanAdopt and AC International Child Support.
By the end of the year the two adoption organizations in Denmark – DanAdopt and AC International Child Support plan a merger. The fusion aims at securing and creating sustainability in intercountry adoption in Denmark in the future. Social responsibility will be an essential part of the prime task, and the new organization will live op to the highest degree of quality and security for all stakeholders and parties in the adoption process. The background for the fusion is a holistic analysis of the Danish adoption system initiated by the Danish Ministry of Children, Gender Equality, Integration and Social Affairs and presented in June this year, as well as a broad political agreement from early October recommending that a joint NGO will contribute to securing the future adoption system in Denmark in close cooperation with the Danish Central Authority. The prospective adoptive parents’ cases shall be processed on a continued basis by the new organization, and Danadopt and AC International Child Support shall put full focus on securing both partnerships in our cooperating countries, the actual pending cases and primarily the children, for whom both organizations have obligations abroad. Individual solutions will be sought for each of our cooperating countries on basis of the above approach. We hope that all of our partners will receive this primary information as a very comforting incitement for future cooperation between Denmark and foreign partners in the area of intercountry adoption. In the new organization valuable knowledge and experience will be collected in one organization, which shall carry on the work of more than 50 years of intercountry adoption in Denmark and will contain an enormous amount of experience and learning in this area. Headquarter for the new organization will be in DanAdopts office in Northern Copenhagen area in Birkerød. Director of the organization will be Robert Jonasen, who has a broad experience in intercountry adoption. Robert Jonasen will take over from November 1st 2014. The two Boards of the organizations have already merged to create the best basis for the new organization in order to secure that all competences and all partners are duly informed and involved in the further process for a solution for each individual partnership. With very best regards
