Life has taken a few bizarre, sharp turns for this four-year-old girl, that too in the space of a year’s time. She first suddenly went missing from the Pune railway station around 16 months ago.
Four months later, the girl suddenly re-appeared, barely a few metres from where she was reportedly abducted by an unidentified person.
On Thursday, the girl, now admitted to the Society of Friends of Sassoon Hospital (SOFOSH) unit, was re-united with her biological parents, just as another couple had reserved her for adoption.
That’s the story of Tanishka Kamble, daughter of a driver and vegetable vendor from Kolhapur; a film script full of twist and turns. It was with her grandmother that Tanishka was travelling back to Kolhapur on March 29, 2016, when she went missing from the Pune station.
After searching for her, a missing complaint was lodged with the police. When the police scanned CCTV cameras, she was found to have been abducted by an unidentified person.

Four months later, Tanishka reappeared in the Pune station area and the police who found her took her to SOFOSH.
While the police continued the search of her parents, Tanishka was placed for adoption through the government agency Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA). Within a month, a couple from Pune reserved her for adoption and began completing the formalities. It was during this period, police found her parents, who were promptly informed. Thrilled by the news of their daughter, the parents immediately arrived in Pune and headed to SOFOSH to re-unite with their girl, who was missing for 16 months.
According to Sharmila Sayed, administration in-charge of SOFOSH, Pune, Tanishka was baffled when she was admitted to SOFOSH. “Tanishka was crying when she was found by the security guard who took her to the police,” said Sayed.
Soon, she became a part of the SOFOSH family. It was when she was about to enter a new phase of life through adoption, that she got her parents back with life coming full circle.
“It was great re-union of daughter with their parents,” said Sayed.
