A TWISTED doctor allegedly snatched a baby boy from his homeless mum and flogged him off to a rich couple for £4,000 in India, says a report.

The medic and his two accomplices reportedly snatched the four-month-old from his traumatised mum after trawling Mumbai slums for victims.

They took off with the tot in a rickshaw and sold him to a childless couple in an upmarket neighbourhood for Rs 4 lakh (£4,000), according to the Mumbai Mirror.

Dr Mohammed Nasruddin Bashiruddin, 46, had told the pair he could get them an infant for cash.

It's alleged he then promised 38-year-old Mahesh Ditty the equivalent of £2,500 to carry out the abduction.

Rickshaw driver Ramesh Vyampati, 42, was paid just £300 for his part in the kidnap.

Cops told the Mumbai Mirror: “The duo kidnapped the boy, took him to Telangana and handed him over to Nasruddin.

“As per the couple, Nasruddin told them that someone was willing to give up their child as they were poor and needed the money.”

Officers rescued and reunited the baby with his mum after she told police her son had gone missing on November 11.

All three men, all from Telangana, southern India, have been charged under the Indian Penal Code.

Cases of child abduction in Mumbai have shot up a shocking 250 per cent over the past five years, according to the National Crime Records Bureau.

A report from the NCRB also highlighted that kidnapping accounted for 55 per cent of crimes against youngsters in the city in 2019.
