Baby found abandoned on empty plot
It could have been a regular day for a group of labourers who were returning to work after lunch. They were taken by
surprise after noticing a toddler left abandoned on a vacant plot. If it was not for the labourers, the infant would have been
in grave danger with rodents, bandicoots or even dogs that could have attacked him.
The labourers stay in sheds near the vacant plot behind Banaswadi fire station in HRBR Layout. Immediately after
noticing the toddler, they informed fire officials. The officials alerted Banaswadi police and a Hoysala team led by Head
Constable Raju S rushed to the spot.
“We called for an ambulance. A doctor, on examining the baby boy, told us that he had neurological ailments,” Raju told
Bangalore Mirror. The police suspect that the parents would have abandoned the child for that very reason.
Raju inquired with the labourers to find if any of them had abandoned the child, but they did not find any suspect. The
head constable then took the baby to Bowring Hospital from where he was referred and admitted to Indira Gandhi
Children’s Hospital.
The police said that the baby was around 1 to 1-1/2 years old. The police are also checking CCTV camera footage from
the vicinity to identify the person who abandoned the baby.
Based on a complaint filed by Raju, the Banaswadi police registered a case under IPC Section 317
