Fiom is the expertise center in the field of unwanted pregnancy, distance & adoption and kinship questions. Working at Fiom is based on the right to self-determination of unwanted pregnant women and the right of a child to know where he or she comes from and to grow up while retaining his or her own identity. Fiom offers information and help with unwanted pregnancy, aftercare in the field of adoption and guides people in their search for biological family at home and abroad. In addition, we manage the KID-DNA Database, which enables a match between a donor child and an anonymous donor. We do all this with about 80 motivated employees from our offices in 's-Hertogenbosch and Houten.
Fiom has in its organization the Dutch representation of the International Social Service (ISS) network. ISS is an international social work organization with headquarters in Geneva and a network in more than 100 countries. Within Fiom, the ISS department, with the help of its international network, deals with social or socio-legal matters relating to persons located in different countries.

SPECIALIST CASE MANAGEMENT ISS

What does the job involve?
You will work on social or socio-legal matters that relate to people who are located in different countries. These include international family searches, family law issues and concerns about minors. You mainly have contact with professionals at home and abroad via e-mail and telephone.
What does your working day at Fiom look like?
You start the day by catching up with colleagues at the office or via Teams.
You then discuss the incoming cases with your direct colleagues and get to work on your casework.
You call the Child Protection Board to discuss concerns about a family in the Netherlands and you provide feedback on the possibilities for research to the partner abroad. You carefully record the developments in the file.
After a cup of coffee you try to get in touch with the partner in Tunisia to present possibilities in a search.
You brainstorm with colleagues about the wishes of intercountry adoptees and you think about possibilities for Fiom to respond to this. You write an advice about this to the policy team.
In addition, you answer questions from intercountry adoptees and adoptive parents that come in via e-mail and telephone.
At the end of the day, you register your work in the time registration system.
You are suitable for this position if you find it a challenge to find the right information through the relevant organizations at home and abroad and thus help your client. You quickly see what is needed to make a qualitative and quantitative difference. You have a helicopter view, but you also have an eye for detail. You enjoy working in a changing environment and have an eye for cultural differences.
And what are you taking with you?
Minimum HBO level, for example HBO rights.
Knowledge of social, legal and scientific developments.
Knowledge of developments within politics and within the sector/work field.
Knowledge of the Dutch social map.
Relevant legal knowledge (particularly personal and family law, for case studies). Knowledge of the legal context in other countries is an advantage.
Excellent knowledge of the English language in word and writing and possibly one or more foreign languages.
Strong communication skills.
A service-oriented attitude with a business approach.
Experience with project work.

Salary in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Social Work, scale 8 (= € 2,780 to € 3,961 gross per month for a full-time employment contract of 36 hours per week).
