CASA LIMIAR 2 opened in RECIFE

On November 01, 2004, LIMIAR assumed the property, formerly Casa dos Amigos , now called CASA LIMIAR do Recife!    Due to a change in its direction, the Casa dos Amigos board deeded everything to LIMIAR - all equipment, all furniture, all cribs and beds, all buildings and grounds - with the hope that the care and sheltering of physically disabled children continue within its walls. The court and CEJA have also supported this transference and assumption of work by LIMIAR.    We are tremendously thankful for the generosity and confidence shown us and look forward to the challenges and inevitable miracles of the future.

The home is located in the residential area called Campo Grande .   All on one floor, it consists of 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, kitchen, eating nook, living room, laundry area, 2 covered patios/play areas, and a large room shared by a social worker and physical therapist.   Walls and floors are tiled to make cleaning and upkeep easier.   Wall bars and lowered sinks are in the bathrooms, ramps are in place instead of steps, a special sink is installed for washing infants.   We are, indeed, most fortunate.

As in our orphanage CASA LIMIAR 1 in Sao Paulo, this is a home to approximately 15 children with physical disabilities that can be helped or improved and whose effects can be minimized through surgeries, medications and therapies.   Our goal is to see these little ones grow strong and to maximize their participation and enjoyment of life while educating them to become independent and productive adults.

CASA LIMIAR 2, and the home in Sao Paulo, must be maintained by children’s sponsorships.   Due to a lack of funding, Casa Limiar - Recife is in the process of closing.  We will keep you informed, as the process continues.
