Qui Sommes Nous ? | Service Social International France

23 June 2023

Established on October 9, 2018, the International Social Service France (SSI France) is a system of the Fondation Droit d’Enfance.

Child protection foundation, founded in 1859, and recognized as being of public utility since 1866, it welcomes and supports several hundred children in Île-de-France placed under its protection by Child Welfare.

She places great importance on avoiding placement breakdowns and supporting families with the aim of avoiding placement or allowing links to be (re)created.

By developing various activities in the field of child protection, its desire is to think about the institutional journey of the child or adult as close as possible to their environment while allowing temporary removals if this proves necessary. .

In any situation, Droit d'Enfance strives to provide varied, shared and thought-out responses for each situation.

OUR HISTORY

The International Social Service is an international non-governmental organization founded in Geneva in 1924, in response to the problems of families affected by European migrations of the 19th and 20th centuries. France was, then, one of the founding members.

The SSI global network has rapidly expanded and strengthened its expertise to protect, defend and support separated children and families, regardless of their country of origin.

But in 2010, the SSI was forced to close its doors in France. It is only since October 9, 2018, thanks to the Droit d'Enfance foundation, which became the official French member of the SSI, that the NGO's activity is once again present on French soil.

The SSI France aims to protect, defend and support families (especially children) who have been separated from their loved ones after migration or international travel.

Since November 1, 2018, SSI France has noted a strong growth in individual requests. And to date, more than 200 children have been taken care of and monitored by our team of lawyers.

OUR PARTNERS

andes-nv-logo-150.png

The National Association of Social Investigators

ANDES

Created in 1985 by social investigators from all over France, the ANDES association provides reflections on their practice and their status.

SSI France and ANDES signed a partnership agreement in August 2019. ANDES then became the preferred partner for carrying out social surveys concerning a child or a family member.

Requests for social investigations from other members of the SSI network constitute a significant portion of the cases received by SSI France.

These social reports must be reliable and complete because they are essential for decision-making for the future of a child and a family.

Thus, SSI France has surrounded itself, through ANDES, with competent social investigators available throughout France.
