A second airplane carrying 52 Haitian orphans touched down in the capital this afternoon.
The children were in the queue for adoption by Canadian parents when a massive 7.0-magnitude earthquake hit the country two weeks ago, devastating the nation and overwhelming social services.
Although adopting children from Haiti usually takes years to finalize, the Canadian government is accelerating the process, cutting down the time it takes to adopt a Haitian child from several years to just a couple of weeks.
Another group of orphaned children from Haiti met their adoptive parents for the first time on the weekend when a plane carrying the children landed in Ottawa.
