The charitable project was Friday adopted by the People’s Committee of the central Thua Thien Hue Province and will be carried out within this year in districts Quang Dien and Phu Vang, and Huong Tra Town.
It is meant to help disadvantaged children to become self-sufficient through educational and vocational training, and provide them with preventive healthcare services, short-term financial support, and emergency relief program.
Concretely, the project will organize six trips to offer mobile health check and treatment and surgeries for handicapped children, give vaccination against hepatitis B to 600 children, and award scholarships to 53 pupils.
The project will also gift milk and office stationery to classes of underprivileged students, as well as give funds for poor families to raise cows.
The organization, formerly known as Aid to Refugee Children Without Parents, has been active in Vietnam since 1988 with dozens of projects across the nation.
Through many sponsors, ACWP has given at least $71,500 to build schools and give scholarships in three regions in Vietnam.
On the same day, the other organization from Sweden, Adoptions Centrum, sponsored a VND2.93 billion ($141,000) project to help female vulnerable children in rural and mountainous areas of Thua Thien Hue from 2014-16.
